Fiberglass/resin
 

My fiberglass/resin job not smooth. Do I just add resin and sand or I read you can use car bondo. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.

Either way is doable. Could you give us a bit more information on what you're making and how you did your glass work?

Building a dumas 45 hotshot. I used sanding resin and fiberglass cloth. After I sanded and thought it was smooth, primed and it looked terrible .

Talked to Jerry and, between him and I, came up with the following:
1) Sand off all of the fiberglass and sanding resin. If your boat was built properly, the glass is all just extra weight
2) Put a thin layer of resin WITHOUT THE GLASS on the boat and sand it smooth. This will serve two purposes, it will seal the wood from water and prevent the grain from showing through the paint
3) Spray on a thin coat of primer and see how it looks
One question we both have is do you have an appropriate engine? Your boat was designed for a .45 outboard, a .21 outboard won't be strong enough to push it.

A 7.5 is the same as a .45, the problem is they have been very hard to find for the last decade.
