Finally finished my boat
 

I've finally finished my boat - it's taken 2 months (although not solid work, on and off) to covert this:

I made a quiet engine mount myself out of angle aluminium and silicone tubing - it works well. I also made all the brackets that hold the fuel tank, servos etc. in place. The hull has been reinforced with fibreglass, inside and out, to make it more durable. At WOT it can manage around 20 knots - not bad for the hull design.

Parts list: ASP .12 engine, MVVS manifold, MVVS throttle pipe, HPI fuel tank, ACOMS 2ch radio system, 35mm waterscrew prop, plain propshaft (I made a self-lubricating mechanism that feeds oil into it to prevent wear), Tamiya air filter and probably other stuff I've forgotten.
So, people, what do you reckon? I havn't got any vids or pics of it in action yet, but I'll get some soon . . . if I can find a place to host the vids.

That is a cool rig you've got. You leave a little to be desired on the boat stand though.

It around 30" long (I have yet to measure it) and weighs around 4 to 6 lbs. I know the boat stand is crude, I originally put it together just so I could sand down the boat easily when I first got it. It's kind of stuck, though. Anyhow, it's just for sitting the boat on when not in use so I'm not really that bothered about it's appearance. It's functional (and also perfectly matches the chassis of my r/c nitro car, so I use it to stand the car on when I clean it).

Thanks for the kind words, though, it looks like all the hard work has payed off. 2 more scrap hulls to work on (the next one is taking a .30 engine! It's about 10" longer and a lot more steamlined, so I can't wait for that one! A lot more work is needed on it, though, than was required for the one I've just finished).
