Flex cable rotation

Is a flex cable only meant to rotate in one direction? In other words, if it was run backwards, would it unwind?

Thanks, Matt

In a word, YES. If you are planning on running a right hand prop, you will either need to find someplace that makes a reversed flex or run a solid shaft. I've heard of reversed flex shafts being available, but i've never seen one. Sorry I can't be of more help[:o]

Octura carries reverse rotation flex cables. They get used on twin or more engined boats that use counter-rotating engines and props. Nope, I've never seen them either. Some of the do-it-yourself Gas boaters use them if they stuff a Chainsaw motor for instance in their hull.
