New Radio

I am looking to upgrade my radio and have been checking them out. The new DX3 by Spektrum looks good but has limited model memory (3). The JR XS3 looks good for the same price. Can anyone shed some light on these two radios and others of the same caliber?

Thanks,
Daryl:D

RE: New Radio

I saw the new Spektrum radio Friday for the first time, the LHS had just gotten one in. I don't know how well it compares to the XS-3 except for it being on the new frequency band. I have an older XR-3 and was disappointed in the 3rd channel as it is really slow, way too slow especially if you want to use it for a remote needle adjustment.
Although I have multi-model memry I prefer to have one boat, one radio myself. Yeah, it's more to haul around but sometimes for the cost of getting another reciever, switch and servos the price of that alone is almost as if you'd have bought a complete system.

RE: New Radio

I have a JR XS3 Pro and love it. 10 model memory, syn. trans. and receiver, etc. As far as the 3rd channel being slow not a problem here, I believe it is based on individual servo speed as opposed to the actual radio itself. I use my 3rd channel for remote kill on my big gas boats and it works flawlessy. Also the 3rd ch. can be set up as a 2 position such as on and off or as a progressive for use w/ remote needles, trim adjustments, etc.

I store 2 of my friends gas boats and they both run JR radios so if I need to take there boats to the lake after a repair to do testing I do not need there radios just tune into their radio channel and away I go.

All in all I love this radio and have no need foer another. You can get the standard XS3 which is a little cheaper in price. Thr only difference is the 6 vs. 10 model memeory and the standard comes w/ the RS300 receiver which is a little bigger than the RS310 included w/ the Pro.

Hope this helps,
Homer
