stupid question on covering boat
 

I was at the Hobby shop yesterday and was looking at the stuff for planes. They use some type of plastic covering for the wings. Really not sure how it works but was curious if you could use this to cover a hull of a boat hull with it. I am not planning to was just curious

You put it on with an iron. I have used Econocote to cover foam sponsons on a small cat. You would need to add ride pads. I used Lexan.

I've used it for trim, but not as the main finish. One concern is it's not very abrasion resistant. Hit a buoy, stick, shoreline, etc, and you'll start getting tears in it.

Absolutely...this stuff is not strong at all. Considering the sponsons on this particular boat were made from foam, strength was not my goal. The boat is fine as long as you are careful with it and of course, don't hit things in the water or it's toast. The hull is super light weight and that's what I needed. This isn't a boat that will last a long time, but it ran good and fast on just a 17T car motor and 7 cells.
