From what I managed to learn, if you're in a pond or lake, the sub will be out of sight after diving about 2 to 2 1/2 feet, so I don't know why you would want to go deeper than that. If you're in a swimming pool, I think the chlorine in the water will effect radio range, so you won't be able to go all that deep and still have control. As far as radio systems, the one radio you CANNOT use is 2.4 ghz, the signal does not penetrate water at all. Maybe more experienced sub guys can help you out more.

I heard that roughly 3 meters (which is 9ft) is the range
I think though with submarines you will quickly get bored of it. ie, it's novelty will quickly run out

What might be more interesting is, I've seen some RC submarines that have a vacant area inside them and a clear window so that you can put small video cameras into them and record video footage

Would you like to buy a rtr trumpeter Kilo? I saw one on another forum post for sale. Let me know and I will see if I can contact the poster. I believe it was about $300.00 with radio, wtc etc. The boat was built by Steve Neill ( he is one of the innovastors in the hobby and is well know as a builder.)

I dabbled in rc subs for awhile. 300 for a rtr sub. maybe for a hull. a sub rtr is going to run at lest 800-1000 dollars. go to the subcommittee report.com and read up on all rc sub related stuff. they are the best bunch of guy's around. all the best craig
