i have several r/c cars and trucks with yrs of racing, dirt and on road.I also have 2 r/c planes.I have never raced or operated a r/c boat though.Yrs ago i began with electric r/c cars, now yrs ago i'm a nitro man only.So what would be a good fast nitro powered boat to start with? See here's the problem though, the only place i could run it is in the river. But this river (Susquehana) river is like a lake on a calm day.I just turned 50 in November and i'm retired.I have nothing to do and all day to do it.That's why i want to get a boat next. But i want one that's fast. Thanks all, bye. Here's a pic of my T-MAXX on top of my HPI.

I believe the SV27 Nitro is low to mid 30's (mph) out of the box.

^^^ yup...i have the nitro sv27 and it is my first nitro boat..I LOVE it..and its one of the faster rtr's right out of the box...

Many people here have clocked mid to high 30's stock with a good tune and in the 40's with a prop change and other small adjustments..

Good luck

also i would look at the bl26 ss...its also a nice boat but ALWAYS on back order...i prob would own a bl26 if it wasnt on back order..im impatient so i bought a nitro sv27 and couldnt be happier...

Someone should have first asked you 1) how "FAST" you want to go and 2) how much you are willing to spend and 3) if you want to build or buy. You have many options and you can go from the $300 to $2000 depending on how fast you want to go/size boat you want.

Happy Birthday and Happy Retirement. As mentioned above, spead and budget go hand-in-hand as they say.

If you are comfortable with nitro and want to build: Areomarine Laminates is an old stand by. They offer bare boats, boat and hardware kits, and RTR kits. you might also look into Warehouse Hobbies (Gas), Bonzi Sports (Gas), Venom now offers some RTR (GAS) and of course Pro Boat (Gas, Nitro, Electric), Traxxas (Nitro and Electric), there are many others. This is by no means a comprehensive list there are many more on the market just a few I have done business with recently and have found good products and good customer service through.

There are many more on the forum with much more in-depth experience than mine...maybe just a start. If I may, always check with yor local hobby shop as well. I hav found mine a great resource when questions cannot be answered online in a "timely" fashion (my gotta have it patience gets the best of me at times). When he does not know the answer we have fun looking and learning together. His assitance and trust have proven very valuable multiple times.

We share a similar time line of the hobby (although I am a bit younger) and I have moved from electric, to nitro and now to gasoline across the board. I was never very skilled at tuning or maintaining the nitro engines so I quickly shifted to gasonline (weed eater type power) and have not looked back since. The cost of fuel vs nitro is huge and the platofrm for the engines are bullet proof COMPARED to nitro. Of course the bigger engine sizes of the Gasoline (Zenoah and CY) require quite a bit bigger boat platforms and running space.

Just my not-so-humble $0.02
