RE: Beginner Setup
Do you already have some R/C gear that you might be able to use for a boat? Anything can help it you need to keep the costs down.
Under $250.00 can be done ready to rock but you're looking at an electric boat. Tower Hobbies, Offshore Electrics and some other sites have some low-cost boats ready to go, even with batteries and charger within your price range. |
RE: Beginner Setup
Thanks Ron........I am looking for an electric boat that is reliable and has good reviews. Unfortunately I have nothing. Any suggestions on a read to go setup?

RE: Beginner Setup
I'm not really an electric boater but take a look in the "Speed-Electric" forum or ask in there.
The Aquacraft Hammer might be one to check or something from Pro Boat. Most of those more knowledgable than me are probably asleep right now. |
RE: Beginner Setup
Are you looking for a floating buggy or a good looking boat? (bias) If you are prepared to build from a plan, your budget should be very feasible. Reckon for a kit about $80 plus $80 per foot length, and you should be in the right area with a bit of careful shopping.

RE: Beginner Setup
Take a look at boats for sale, got just what you need, ready to go. w/ batt and charger. Insanely fast and does not leak or run hot.

RE: Beginner Setup
Do you want to 'build'?...
Have a look at a Springer... Within your price range and FUN to build and sail... |
RE: Beginner Setup
Thank You to all that replied. I am actually interested in a RC Boat. I guess from what I understand that building will cut cost. Right? My only concern is that I really dont know anything about these hulls, engines, batteries, etc. I have looked and may just have to spend the extra money to purchase an all in one box deal. Would that be a decent decision for a first timer? The Traxxas Villain Ex looked like a pretty good boat and it got good reviews from most sites. BUTTTTT. When its all said and done Batteries, Charger, Remote Console, and shipping I am up to $400. Does anyone, anyone please have any suggestions to get me started into this hobby. Thanks to all.......

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...7p?CATEGORY=BA wish i could help you more but Im just like Ron on this mater dont know much about FE boats good luck. regards Canadian LoCo |
RE: Beginner Setup
The Tower boat is popular for a low-cost boat and even some clubs are using it for a racing class. The Hammer as well as most others have complete package deals but with your spare change I'd grab up some better battery packs.
