Stuffing Tube
To bend the stuffing tube is the best way to heat it?

RE: Stuffing Tube
In the boat I try it with out heat or a soldering gun, out of the boat I use the oven

RE: Stuffing Tube
If bending for installation in a boat I use a flame and get the section red hot for a few seconds and let cool. This anneals the brass so that it's easier to bend without kinking or breaking. You could do it cold since the bend is typically pretty shallow but annealing makes things so much easier

RE: Stuffing Tube
Only heat area you will bend. Let cool down before bending. You can put in the flex when bending to make it smooth.

RE: Stuffing Tube
An old trick to bend it without kinking it is to fill it with sand or table salt, no heat needed that way.

RE: Stuffing Tube
Use fine sand. It will not crush at all, as you start getting more confident & do tighter bends. EDIT LIGHTLY tap the top of the tube with a small stick to cause the sand to settle down completly before bending. Tighter settling down, means EXTREMELY tight bends in Aluminum. |
RE: Stuffing Tube
