Need a little Rc info help

I am wanting to make a Rc boat out of a plastic model. Is there a easy way to make the conversion?
I would go out and buy one but college is taking the brute of my funds.

Thanks

There are plenty of examples.
Avoid going too small, as this will involve miniature components, which COST.
Suitable candidates are the Lindberg Classic range tug, trawler, tuna boat, and the lightship. Revell have equivalents, but these are all considerably smaller. Revell also do the Snowberry, which is very suitable for a first timer, being big enough to get both hand in.
Billing, Robbe and Graupner do boat kits made of plastic intended to be sailed.
Beware of Liners - as models they are intrinsically unstable and need a lot of thought to get them to float upright.
1/350 battleships are a better proposition as they have a lot of down below and not too much above.
A lot of would be converters try to buy running gear and whinge when they find that small gear is not commercially available. They are modellers. They should be able to make the stuff. Google for "towboatjoe". There is a masterclass on making your own there.

What is your total budget for the model ? Does that include RC parts ?
List the parts you need .

I have built every Lindberg boat from 6" t0 the Blue Devil destroyer . All were converted to RC.

DO NOT attempt a aircraft carrier or a submarine, untill you can do SEVERAL chunky surface boats.

You will enjoy the personal feeling of completing the conversion. :)

I don't care what kind of plastic, wood etc model I convert into RC.
I was thinking around $200ish, that includes everything

I don't know that kind of parts I will need. Can someone help me out with that?
