LINDBERG PT-109 MOTORS

Fellow Boaters

Need sme help on Battery selections, I have here a old Lindberg Pt-109 I have the radio installed as of yet for power I have 2 9-18VDC motors direct drive. Anyone out there can suggest what type of battery needed. I have 3 Radio Shack 9.6V 1000 RC Battery packs wondering if I could wire up all three in parrall instead of series would do the job I,mm not certain. Any help or suggestions would be honered.

Hi from a fellow Navy vet (HM-1). Well, you could do that but I would be concerned about weight. The Lindberg PT's I have had all have had weight management issues (don't we all) I would think it would be better to purchase one battery pack and use that. Tower Hobbies or any reputable hobby shop can help you there. The newest packs have a 5000Mah rating so it would be equivalent to 5 of the radio shack batterys. Using one battery pack would certainly keep the weight to a manageable level and would greatly simplify wiring the old PT up. Not to mention, if you bought a couple of them you could swap them out and double your run times.

That boat always had a weight problem for me. All I could accomplish with the stock motors was a tugboat........All plastic boat are very very heavy. So I quickly moved on to scratch building with plywood. My opinion is it is a sinker waiting to sink & ruin a lot of your RC gear.

PUT FOAM chuncks all around the inside. You will need them. Do a LOT of test runs in the bathtub!! DO NOT let it point or run to the sloped end of the tub. It will climb up & sink.
Always at the DRAIN end.
LIPO batteries used in airplanes are the only possible way to make it run realistically.
That company, Harvest House ??, Makes beautiful models. But NOT for RC.

Wish I could be more positive about it.
