flex cable question
Hi guys, I was just wondering if anyone has some advice regarding a flex cable setup I am building a 1200mm mono and am running a weed eater motor with square drive. I have purchased a stinger drive complete with a prop shaft, which also has a square drive. The cable I have has one square end and will need to be shortened. Does anyone have any ideas of how to create a square end on the cut side? I have also noticed that the when cut the 1/4 flex is too big to fit in the female square drive so I will have to squeeze it some how, Now here is the problem, I dint know if anyone has done this successfully but i trued to bash an extra piece with a hammer and its not easily done. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. Is there some kind of collet that has a male square end?
All theories welcome as I am currently in the dark. Thanx Damo... |
RE: flex cable question
For making a square end you need a fixture / a mold / and a xTon press.
I've never seen a commercial square-male adapter. You cheapest option : find someone with a lathe , drill the square-propshaft to 1/4" , and glue the round end in with Loctite 648. If the propshaft of the stingerdrive is a black-"chinese" eBay thing .. they have the 1/4" round version too. You'll just have to order a new 1/4" round propshaft. |

RE: flex cable question
Thanks for the advise, I think Ill have to get the shaft driller out to suit the round end as Hendric said.
