Default "winterizing" tires?

Me and a friend figured the frozen lake would be a nice, smooth place for me to fly my plane, and him to race his car.

It was smooth alright, but his car would just spin their even while idealizing. Is their a way for him to modify his tires so they get a little more grip on the ice?

I was thinking some of the tick rubber bands would help a little. Any other ways?

small screws work best but use an old pair of tyres and they will be useless after with the holes everywhere, great grip on ice tho

Dismount the tires, screw some small self-tapping wood screws through the tread from the inside, CA the screws in to be sure, re-mount the tires, good to go.

Nice Video did you see the 6x6 Stampede?
I thought this was a pretty cool creation.

Looks like he custom fabricated the parts to assemble it with.
I know this is a little off topic I just like custom mods like this.

Build some tire chains. Better than ruining a set of tires by putting a bunch of self tapping screws in. Buy some small chain at a hardware store/lowes/tractor supply and build the chains to fit tightly. Then you can take em off later.

I might have to try them after my blackfoot tires are completly worn down.
I was thinking about those. might be easier for snow use. Since Ive made my blackfoot a snow machine.
Why not?
