well seeing that my local track is banning nitro machines from running during the winter, I am forced to go electric. I have it down to two cars.

durango 210 1/10 2wd buggy
durango 210sc 1/10 2wd short course

I understand short course is more durable because of the big protective body and bumpers, but i'm sure buggy will handle much better.

what do you guys think? this is going to be a track only car.

I'd ban your stupid local track for banning nitro..

If you do run electric, mount a huge speaker on it with the blaring, beautiful sound of nitro engines.

The people at your local track are fools.

There is no doubt that the buggy is a more agile vehicle compared to a SC truck. However, it requires a fair degree of skill to get the most out of one. I'm still honing my skills, but I will say that after driving a buggy a SC truck feels more forgiving and almost lazy in comparison. My advice: get both! In reality if you can only choose one, then base your decision on what classes are available at your local clubs.

yeah, I think its lame, people are getting lazy "I don't know how to tune, meh its smelly and oily waaaa!" you don't get the adrenalin from a electric motor whirring that you get from a nitro engine screaming down the back straight.

I think I will go buggy, I come to think of myself as a pretty good driver, and I learned on 2wd. however SC LOOKS like a cool class.

Depends if you want to play destruction derby with the noobs and little kids (SC) or play technical driving with the big boys (buggy).

I wonder if that sound module works good. And if it changes the sound based on throttle input. There isnt really much info on the site about it.

Ive had one of thos v8 sound things for your car. They judge RPMs via the altenator singal. Now, if those cost $50 then it should be possible to have a cheap nitro or motor sound module for our electric RC's that changes the sound by being tied into the throttle cable from the rx.(Y cable or something)

Teh ones tamiya has are cool but wicked pricey.


On the buggy/sc, find out which gets run more at the track.

I prefer sc, as rubbing is part of racing and they like to slide more in the corners (depending on the track surface) and they are easier to jump.
A buggy can indeed be faster, but as mentioned are trickier to drive. One wrong move, or turn to sharp or to quick and its on its lid. SC's are more forgiving.

add that sound with the smoke unit out of a Heng Long RC tank with a stinger coming out the side
If I remember right the smoke units just a very low Ohm resistor in some baby oil.

I voted for 1/10 buggy, but personally I would go with whichever has more racers locally. Running against 3 people every week is going to get boring. If theres a good sized class each week I would go with the buggy

go for the one with a descent size amount of competitors. If both a good size, choose the one you think looks cooler. I voted buggy
