Stay with the plastic. Like phmaximus said, the tranny needs a weak point. I know, because otherwise the weak point becomes the wheels and wheel hexes.

Kinda like the Extreme Machines I got is hobby grade which is an almost exact DF-02 bootleg(diff shock tower in the front)
I run metal spurs in a few RC's, outside them being loud as hell I've not had any issues, but those RC's also have center diffs so (well except my savages) even if part of the drive chain binds up it still wouldn't be an issue as the energy would just unload to the part that wasn't binding instead of stripping a gear

I must admit I think the HBX version is better.... the new ones have one peice arms, shock tower extensions and longer shocks... and are nearly 2/3 the price of a Baja King thats a NONRTR kit where the HBX is RTR
thats the thing steer gears are ok on most semetrical drivetrains with a centre gear... just keep away from a alloy spur gear.... nasty stuff

I have an older HBX than you do. You got the nice one, I got the old crappy Bonzer Super Tigre. I guess I never told you that...
And the reason I say to stick with plastic spurs, is because I believe in that as the weak point. Which is why I go through so many. using any other part as a weak point, is more expensive than a spur gear. That's why I have stock on spurs! Just kidding... just kidding.

Hoping for the Savage, but debating between that and Exo Terra Buggy. I'm leaning toward the savage though. But isn't this why I created this thread?

The Flux XS really isn't a bad truck if you know how to control a truck with a short wheelbase and high CG. It jumps great, has good pickup and speed, and is durable as all hell. For the price, nothing comes close to this truck out of the box. If you want something bigger... Ofna Lx2e RTR. I just got one in March. Beast of a buggy on 4s.

Honestly, I don't think I could afford a LX2E. And like I said, I don't really want an SCT, they're just too big and bulky for me. I want more of a big strong truck, or truggy.
