Thunder tiger EK4 s2
Been a while since I ran nitro,
I sold all my nitro vehicles and got into brushless,
yesterday I was looking through fleabay and came across a thunder tiger ek4 s2
thing looked like it was never ran, no scratches on the chassis and mint bodyshell,
Not sure if I should have done so, but I bought it,
I remember seeing the old running videos back when they were popular and always liked the look of them,
Anyone still run these trucks?
il post pics when mine arrives.

Il have to tear the truck down,
loctite all the metal to metal screws and strip the engine to check every things ok,
so could be end of next week until I'm ready to run it,
I've heard that the pro70 runs well on os8 plugs, might need one from you if there's not one already installed, thanks

The ek4 turned up in the post,
the truck and bodyshell look to have had very little use,
one problem I did have was when I removed the engine I found there to be no head gasket and the piston ring had grown into the slot in the piston,
I tried to remove it but it was so jammed it came off in 3 pieces,
so I bought a new piston ring @£14.99 and a full pro 70bk gasket/ seal kit @ £3
also the front bearing sounded a little rough so I got a new one for £1.50
all the bits except the piston ring have arrived so should have the piston ring hopefully tomorrow,
anyway here's some pics of the truck minus the engine which isn't built back together yet.

Piston ring fitted,
also fitted a new tall cooling head,
tested the futaba s3305 steering servo that came in the truck and it's got some grunt,
throws the wheels lock to lock on carpet with ease,
just waiting on the new version starting backplate as the old one fitted isn't ball raced,
and the brass bushing in it has some slap,
ive a feeling this will cause air leaks and mess the truck with fuel from the leaky starting shaft,
got a new starting backplate along with a complete clutch and clutchbell and flywheel set
including shipping from Germany for 24 euros
that's real cheap for part number pd1592

EK-4 S2/PRO 70BX(R) parts source info.?
This reply is for Sparky 25,but if anybody has a better option than having stuff shipped from Germany,I'm all ears.
Nice truck, dude! I own 10 of them from a fancy-schmansy with all the red anodized pieces the guy I got it from could find,a couple of stockers that look like they just came out of the box, three that run but have seen better days to a couple of rollers that just need finished along with about every part for them I could snag off eBay & a couple hobby shops I stumbled across.
What I can't find are pistons, piston rings, clutch shoes and the oversize clutchbells these big engines need.
So,if you still have the information wrote down somewhere, could you post the name, email address and/or a phone # for the uber-neato German website or hobbyshop you got your parts from? It would be outstanding to get all these up & running again. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Stan O.

Here's some links to get some parts,
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1111926117...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
also for clutch parts go to, http://www.thundertiger-bayern.de/ and type in this part number in the search PD1592
this is a complete clutch kit, flywheel, clutch bell, flywheel collet, bearings and steel clutch along with complete rear starting backplate,
all for only €24.50 euros.

Re-activating this old thread..................
Been out of RC for a while. Sold almost everything off, but I kept my THREE mighty EK-4's. They are awesome rigs. I equipped one with a 2-spd, and am getting ready to run it. I spent yesterday tweaking and adjusting, and setting it up with new TX and RX (Spektrum). This unit really flies with the 2-spd. It will wheelie (of course) in first gear, but it also wheelies when it shifts into 2nd. I haven't run the thing in 5 years, but I am stoked to fire it up.
Now I gotta go buy some 30% heli fuel.... booyah!
I'll see if I can find some pics.......
Below is my 'custom' EK-4. This thing is beautiful (it's a shelf queen, but has been carefully run a couple of times). I am trying to find someone to paint me a nice purplish body to match this anodizing. Does anyone know a decent custom painter?

Hi Chevy,
thx for the reply - I have to accept your decision although I do not understand your statement on the difference between shipping within the US and overseas.
it’s more or less the same procedure as you may probably know.
anyway, good luck for selling the bunch!
