Default Malibu R/C 1/10 General Lee

Hi guys, I recently dug out of my attic an old 1/10 Walmart general lee and tried to run it but found that after driving around a little bit it'll start getting bogged down making some sort of whining noise and not wanting to move, however when placed upside down it works just fine? I was wondering if I could get some help diagnosing the problem or maybe find another chassis to swap the body onto that would fit nicely. Thanks!

If it uses a rechargeable NiCd battery pack, the battery pack is probably shot. I’d replace the pack (this might require doing some digging to find a suitable replacement that will fit, and likely soldering the connector onto the new pack.)

It's not the battery because I've tried brand new ones, I've been told maybe it's something with the motor?

Sounds like, from your description, the pinion gear is loose and slipping on the motor shaft.
