Default 1/8th scale buggies recommendation?

I'm looking to buy a 1/8th scale rtr buggie and don't know what to buy. Our local hobbie shop doesn't really support 1/8th's and the only one they reccomend is the Mugen. I know this is an awesome car but until just recently they didn't have a rtr. What do you guys reccomend?

Good RTR's

Ofna Hyper 7 PBS
GS Storm
I've heard a lot about the Hot Bodies Lightning but don't have any personal experience with it.

Mugen doesn't offer a RTR 1/8 scale buggy at all as far as i know.

you ask 10 people you get 10 opinions

I have a Hyper7 rtr (not pbs) and like it very much, it's been very durable and parts are easy to get online, or at my LHS

At the local race tracks you really only see 4 types for the most part.
Mugen mbx series
Ofna hyper7 pro (not many running PBS)
Kyosho K2
GS Storm

The others are most likely fine for just bashing around,

RC car action did a drive test of all the RTRs last spring,,maybe you can find a back issue, I forgot what month, sorry.

If we're strictly talking RTR's here, I like the PBS because of it's engine - but i only race my buggy, never bash, so it's personal preference. If you prefer the pull start, go for it.

Another Ofna that sounds interesting is the PCR version that's coming out. I don't know much about it other than it's gonna have all the Paul Coleman parts and will be RTR. (Kit version to follow?). I'm hoping they offer it in no-pull-start form. Ofna web site only has one pic that i could find.

Its awesome. I have the X-terminator and I love it. I dont race it (yet) but I do bash the hell out of it with no problems. Top speed and acceleration is on par with any buggy I have run against at the local bash spot, and I cant seem to kill the thing. Last week we built a ramp for jumping contests. I jumped 30+ feet in length with about 10 feet of air at least 20 times and it came through unscathed. this buggy is relatively new, but the following is growing quickly, and now I know why. You would have to mug me to get mine away from me. Its definately a good choice, and its even cooler if you like having something a little different than all the cookie-cutter Ofnas and Kyoshos out there.

Hyper 7 pro or hot bodies both strong cars. You never mentioned if price was a factor if not then hyper 7 pro is the way to go.
