Hi guys first time poster here. I'm kicking the dust of my Turbo Optima Mid SE to see if it will still run. I was thinking about getting it ready for my son to learn on, hopefully I can find parts if needed. Anyone know how available these parts will be? Speed controls motors servos that sort of thing?......... Also after looking at some of these gas powered cars I'd like to get into one of those. Any reccomendations? Doesn't have to be too fancy something to start on names to look for motor sizes or any other bit of info I may need to get started. Anyways I'll see what you guys come up with and go from there nice chatting with ya and it looks like this is a great sight to get my answers!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG ... A Turbo Optima??? I have not seen one of those for 15 yrs when I used to race. I used to own a Ultima with the belt drive. Raced it once and then it disappeared, dont know what happened to it. Want another one.

You can probaby find some parts at TowerHobbies. If they dont have the parts youre looking for, then they dont exist anymore
There are many great nitro beginner cars out there. HPI makes the popular monster truck Savage 25 and the smaller stadium truck Nitro MT 2. Traxxas also has some good choices, for exaple the T-MAXX, Nitro Stampede and the Nitro Rustler. If youre more into the buggies, OFNA makes a great low budget car; the Ultra MBX Pro RTR. I personally dont like the budget cars from Kyosho, but I guess the Inferno TR-15 and the different TR-15 stadium trucks they have are ok. I also heard good things about Team Associated and Team Losi. Use TowerHobbies or your local hobby shop for price comparision.
Good luck choosing

believe me,t-maxx isnt a newby engine.the trx 2.5 is very hard to tune if its your firdst engine.i have it down pat now it takes 5 mins of tuning then im bashing around for the day.now i can tune any engine with ease but when i first got it it ran ike crap cause it was to hard to tune.i know that savage engines are really reliable and easy to tune,go with that unless you want a really bad head ache.
