LOL, like on grand theft auto vice city with the flying car code, that would be pretty cool.

You'll need some sort of thrust in the air.
Without it you can't get enough speed to lift you off the ground. As soon as you approach the point where the car is lifting, you lose traction, slow down, and drop back down.

Unless you used some sort of jump, or big hill or something....

maby if you put paddle tyers on the car................

but you've got a point gerwen.
what hapens when the cars in the air its just going to fall back down,
when you think about it a glider is allwas falling but its gliding, but becuase
a plane takes it up a few thousand feet its ceeps gliding intill it hits the ground

but with a car its going to get of the air, but becuase it only get of maby 5mm it will just drop
that 5mm unless you have some think to propell it to make it ceep moving in the air

im planning on using a jump to get it in the air and hitting a g12 rocket at the apex to give it the thrust to ghet it airborne enough to have a decent lenght of glide

my rocket boosted rc10 gets some really nice air when i hit curbs under thrust (wiith a e rocket ) so a g should be plenty

awww that'll be awesome! I remember once I went to a rocket and R/C plane show and someone put a g size rocket onto the launch pad. Then when he launched it something went weird and as soon as it came off the rod it went flying into the crowd. Pretty scary! lol! I think a 4 lb car with a 48" wing and maybe a strong BL motor up front might cut it but rocket will probably be easier.

Thrust-weight ratio formula for flight^^^^^

I had a few thought and idea's on this

Maybe run the steering servo back threw the to a tail (turn wheels left & it moves a tail rudder as well) for control

extra linkage from the throttle to the wings excellerate & it raises the wing's flaps up for lift and back to nuetral for glide

the only questions that sit in my head is would the tires act like gyro's useing the idea above and prevent the lift

curious to see

i allread have a rear linkage setup to help steer my rocket engine in my rocket boosted rc10 so im shure it would adpt easily to a rudder never thought about makeing the wings move to get better lift tho

i was just thinking i could use the setup on my boosted rc10 that disengages the rear pinion under thrust, to do that and also ingage a pinion attached to a front prop.
for some added thrust in the air i have a few props that fold when not running

I built a hydrofoam about a week after the first copied plans showed up on the internet. it is cool, but unfortunately it flys like a boat... EXTREMELY roll sensitive, the slightest gust will flip it over for you.
I purchased a pre-cut hydrofoam kit tonight at one of the LHS.

I wish I could buy r/c parts as often as you []. Was it actually made of foam as the one you want is made of 3mm depron.

Isn't Depron just a brand name? Anyway, it looks like Depron foam--durable. The LHS had three and the owner informed me that he probably wouldn't be able to get anymore, so I snatched one up. He is also building one. I'll also probably hold off on the lipo and rest of the electronics until I get some flight time on my simulator. I also need to make up my mind what color I want it and what designs to use though I will probably at least put an RCU Sticker on it.

Hondamx,
Now that really does remind me of a James Bond movie.

While it is a brand name, its better then many other foams, especially for its application. Not sure how much you paid for it but the Miss Hangar One goes for about $60. I like the voltflyer as it is already painted and has the HACKER logo engraved in it I like hacker.... Im sure it will be fun, I was going to do one but the electronics cost way more then the vehicle itself. That red car was on Monster Garage. I think the only practical way to build this buggy instead of buying a plane is... Use servos to rotate the wings out when wanting to fly, when your done rotate the wings in, having them nestled inside the body, and now you can run it like a buggy. Think it would work?

$50. I uploaded a photo already, but the kit itself is still in the bag. I already have an AON brushless and Jeti speed control. I'll probably pick up the Spektrum DX6.

If you put a rocket motor on that thing, you better be somewhere where a completely out of control 4 pound missle isn't going to hurt anyone.

I don't know much about rocket motors, but a little googling showed me that a G12 motor is big enough for a 3.5lb rocket. So it's probably big enough to launch a stadium truck straight into the air from a dead stop, and probably to a good height. You will have ZERO control over it and could easily kill yourself and others since it will be wildly out of control.

Bad bad bad idea.

How about chop down the wings of a plane and turn it into a car instead?
