gearing question
so my car was runing well when out of nowhere it just almost stoped moving except little bursts of movement, the engine was runing but the car wasnt really responding at all, i brought it in and started taking it apart to see what was wrong and seems like it has something to do with the gearing, this gear(i highlighted it in the pictures) looks like its skiping when i move it and it doesnt move the wheels(except for the little bursts) on the contrary the second larger gear does move the wheels like its supposed too im thinking its something in the gear box but i would hate to open it then someone tell me its something easier and less complicated soooo pllllllllzzzz help me out someone

RE: gearing question
if the car wasn't moving, it won't have anything to do with 2nd gear. Your first gear looks like it is stripped, look how flat the teeth are on it. Or, possibly, the one way bearing in your first gear is toasted, but from looking at the first gear, i would say it is stripped.
That little clutch you are holding is a centifugal clutch, when the engine hits a cerrtain RPM, the weight of the clutch arm overcomes the force of the spring, then hte arm catches a little tab that sticks out on the inside of hte 2nd gear.
If you turn 2nd gear, it won't turn the wheels becauwse that arm isn't engaged.
Try putting hte car on the floor with the wheels touching the ground, and then turn the spurs pretty hard (the little gears attached to the engine) and see if they can grab the first gear.
You will have to get a new 1st gear. they are cheap anyway.

RE: gearing question
I don't have a tr4, so I am not sure. But if you look at the exploded vieew in this link, it should be easy enough to find the right part number.

RE: gearing question
Yeah, I don't even have an LHS. Nearest one is about 130 miles away, and tehy don't carry CEN anyway. Plus, shipping from US to can can be very slow sometimes.
