The stock MGT air filter is pretty good - it's a beefy 2-stage foam filter - http://www.rcxshop.com/product_info....oducts_id=1317

Then of course there are the "motor saver" air filters, which most people regard as the best air filters around. Whatever you do stay away from K&N!

I've heard that the motor saver filters work really well...

Seems like everyone has "biased" opinions one way or another on air filters from what i've seen.

K&N filters were never designed for small 2-stroke rc cars - they don't filter the smallest particles as well as oiled foam filters. They're often marketed as rc car specific air filters (on ebay and such) but they're just rebadged breather filters for 1/1 cars. You can usually tell by the hose clamp fixing...

They may do ok in most conditions, but if you run anywhere dusty i reccomend a different filter

i do run it in all kinds of stuff from sand to powder dirt to gravel...i just stuck the foam piece inside of the k&n because i noticed it was basicly just some fine wire mesh...so i cut my orginal foam fliter and stuck it inside....just take it out and clean and re oil

I run the ofna air filter foams with the motorsaver outer foams. I have that same engine also, you will enjoy it especially with the 9mm carb insert..
