Default What are these?

Not Redcat related but deffinatlly nitro car related and interesting to say the least. A guy dropped these off at our store this weekend, said they were his brothers and he didn't know what to do with them now. I took them home to work on them and one of them I'm rebuilding from the ground up and making the parts from scratch. The last three pics are of the car I'm doing from scratch. One is of the chassis, one is of the wheel hub mounted in my lathe after drilling and taping the holes to get rid of some burrs and start polishing the machine marks off and the other is of the wheel hub mounted on the axle.

Ok, so what do you all think these are? Any ideas? I know what two of them.

Ya, for one of them. The throttle is the little switch on the side it's spring loaded. It works and it's a ***** to use, lol, I tried it out on my own car.

Not sure what they are, but the chassis design on some of them bears a striking resemblance to my old 1/12 scale Tamiya pan car.

I believe the two with the gigantic diffs and the engine sticking out the back are some form of Kyosho pan cars, they have black covers that go over the pan area that say kyosho on the inside. But now sure because two of these things I believe were made from scratch out of carbon fiber, because there seems to be scroll or band saw marks and just not quite perfect straight cuts along the chassis.

HOLY SMOKES, that has to be what the electric car is, I foudn the EXACT SAME speed control that is sitting on top of yours in a box with all the stuff the guy dropped off, but I didn't know what it was. Well at least know I know, guess I need to see if it works or take my butt to Fry's electronics and see if I can find a Pot that will work in it's place. That's cool.

Lol, now we're getting somewhere! That's the craziest speed control that I've ever seen (give me a break guys, I'm young still). Mine still worked but I replaced it with an ESC because all of the wires were were coming un-soldered off of the board and I didnt feel like messin' around with them. Now I kinda wish I would have taken the time to fix it properly so it would be "period correct" so to speak. Oh well, live and learn!

Ya, I thought at least one looked homemade myself. Thought it would be interesting for the younger people here to see how there nitro cars started out in the late 70's and early 80's.
