2) here is good place for break-in info and maintenance and mods [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7644445]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7644445[/link] - look specifically at [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8340591]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=8340591[/link] and [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7647037]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=7647037[/link]

Psyche........

20% Fuel is Standard for car/truck Nitro Motors.
You can probably getaway with 16%,,,,,,but 20% will be Better Performance AND easier to tune.
I use O'Donnel 20% in all my Bashers......

There is no way on earth i can fit in the fail safe and that female-female adapter under that small receiver cover + all the cables.
What's the best solution for this?
Is there a bigger cover available or do i have to improvise?

I started the break in process.
I don't think it was too successfull.

The car would stall in the beginning all the time, so i played around with the idle on the carb and that was fixed.
Then i had loads of problems with my fail safe going red just all of a sudden, probably cause of low battery in the car.
How much juice does this thing need?
Anyway, i disconnected the fail safe  and kept breaking in without it.
The first tank ended mostly on the ground, the exhaust just kept spitting out fuel like it was a squirt gun, that's a good thing right?
I barely got to drive the car cause of all the stalling and the spitting during the first tank.
Second tank i leaned the engine a bit, no spitting and no smoke, i drove the car around and no smoke came out.
By the 3rd tank the glow starter ran out of battery so here i am.

I do hope i didn't hurt the engine with all this, it just didn't feel so good.

Your probably fine, you dont want the engine to be too rich during break in either and you want to keep it running, make sure its not too hot, you can tell by putting some water on the cooling head or wiping some spit on your finger then on the cooling head, if its too hot it will sizzle right off, if its too cold it will just stay there, it should evaporate in 3-5 seconds.

You need either 4 alkaline batteries (1.5 x 4 =6v) or a hump pack (5 cell, 1.2 x 5 = 6v).  You can use 4 rechargable but you will only get 4.8 v.  Dont run with almost dead batteries or you will have a run off for sure.

I just ran in tank 3 and 4.
This little baby is starting to come to life.
I had to go home becuase of low batteries, my charger won't charge my nimh AA and i havn't recieved my new charger yet.
1 more tank of a little leaner and then i am gonna let this baby rip.

Edit:

I ran tank 5 and then on tank 6 i started driving normal.
Holleeeeeeeyyy crap this car is FUN!
It handels really good and it's really FAST.
2nd gear kicks in a bit early but that's adjustable.
I got the car for a bit under 200$, definitly a worhty product for that price.
I flipped the car like7 times when i landed bad, and everything is fine, how durable is this car? seems like it's all about luck with part series and how bad you bash it.
Either way, i will post pics soon!

Thanks for the help guys.

Its a pretty durable setup, the plastic is pretty forgiving but it is plastic and will break.

Hi,

What is the number for the big cog wheel on the main gearbox HI903-047? the one that spins directly by the engine.
I broke that big plastic cog wheel, i think a small rock or piece of wood got in there and broke off a few teeth.
I can't seem to find it, only the whole gearbox unit.

Thanks!

I found it :

HIMOTO MegaP Spare parts 801-014 Spurgear-43T

or this one

903-100 Spur Gear/spring/nylon self-lock nut

Both should work

I replaced the spur gear, and when i did the paper test i noticed the wheel doesn't turn straight, it turns in "8s".
How critical is this?
What can i do to straighten it out? i assembled everything the same way it was before i took it apart, but i did use the old parts, i only replaced the spur gear itself with a new one.

I usually just try to straighten them out by hand a little.
