its easy, you can get a hand gun with paint balls, remove all the weights they put in there to make it feel "real" then buy a 3ch reciver and transmitter, put the servo on a stick you dont use (for instance, left stick left) set that spring tight, attach it to a micro servo attached by zip ties, find a good place to place the gun, (upside down on the bulk head) attach with locking plastic velcro, cut a place out for the body and enjoy.
so this will be a $100 upgrade.
heh that brit was a hypocrite, those guys do some weird stuff too, like comedy for instance.

turns out he has 4 guns, including a pistol sidearm. He says the pistol is his baby and he wont put it on the truck, but he has an old, lightweight gun with a smaller CO2 tank that he can use.
E-Maxx is a little pricy for him, we're going to tape it to my rusty (4600 brushless in it) and do a low-speed test run to see if it even moves, if it drives fine with the gun we'll get him a cheap used rusty, brushless-ify it with my setup, and try it out.
and if the rusty doesnt work, i guess we'll just try to build our own, one with a low CG that can hug the gun and we'll put some good traction and weight-pulling power to the ground. any motor reccomendations if the rusty thing doesnt work (i doubt it will work, but its worth a shot...)
thanks for the great ideas so far, keep em comin and maybe this can turn out into an awesome project!

A rusty weighs about 4 lbs, you are basically going to double or triple the weight so you should start by cutting he gearing in half (or as low as it will go). Then double up on springs, or get really tight springs. I tried to do something similar once with a 'pede and a turret-mounted sidearm, but the traction was poor and it was just too top heavy. These days I wouldn't even try it with anything less than an E-maxx, esp. if using a full-size gun and not the sidearm.

wow. this actualy sounds cool. All u need to do is get a 3 channel radio. Hook the extra servo to the trigger and there u go. It would suck to have a radio problem and the gun keeps shooting tho.

i don't know if we would end up putting gun-control on it, just steer the car in the general direction we want to shoot and we can angle it to a certain angle before it goes out into the field, but for the interest of the budget he's on (like i said, E-maxx was pricy for a base, plus mounting and stuff) it sounds a little pricy to do the full X-Y-Z movements of the gun. Maybe left/right wouldn't be that hard... just need a strong servo and put it on the bottom of the plate the gun is on.

how would a t-maxx with a 3.3 motor work out with something like this? I got an offer for a T-Maxx with a shot motor, the lhs said they could hook it up with a new 3.3 motor for $115, so that would cut down on the money spent on this project.
and yeah, i know nitro would kill the "stealth" factor, but it would scare the crap outta me if i was playing paintball and i heard that "VROOOOOOOOM" echoing in the woods and you have no clue where it is.

okay, lets not forget the whole... "Please resist the urge to curse, flame, degrade, insult or embarrass someone in your post" thing, even though what they said about america was uncalled for (that goes for the guy that said that, too.)
thanks
Oh, and the HPI E-Savage seems to have caught my eye, especially that its 4wd, electric, and similar to the E-maxx, but the price is a lot more managable. man, if we had the cash, an HPI Baja 5b would be pretty dang sweet for this right about now...but they're like $950...hahaha.
thanks

A Rustler VXL will flip over on its own just accelerating WITHOUT a big paintball gun sitting on top. I'd imagine that if you built this, you'd immediately be dis-satisfied. and realize you'd wasted your money...
