True (sort of) but at least there's a measurable goal: getting to the finish line first, and since then it's become an athletic sport showcasing team strength, planning, strategy, skill, and preparation. It's not up to the whims of the judges or the crowd as to who puts on the best performance... These are my personal views on the subject, and I'm not trying to tell anyone they're wrong or right, and this is more than I usually say on the subject so I'm sorry for cluttering up a cool "build up" thread.
ORIGINAL: hrdcoreglf Stock car racing was started by a bunch of bootleggers looking for a place to show off their fast cars without getting arrested for it. Every sport is filled with show offs.

Please tell me there was more done to it then a 6 barrel and a tranny? A stock GTO with those mods would be lucky to touch 150.

you must have remebered that from previous conversations, because it had a rock crushr trans and if you remember correctally i've said a few times it also had a bad ass 6 barrel carb and it had no problems smoking the tired off, 200 was easy, the speedo only went to 180 but it would peg and keep accelerating.

actually a car with the right gearing and the pontiac big block, any of them from the 350 to the 455 with only a few high performance parts wouldn't have much trouble getting to 200 mph, especially if it has the muncie 4 speed rockcrusher tranny.

That was a blown alcohol belching GTO right?? It would take a lot of HP to get that car anywhere close to 200. -Derek
ORIGINAL: AllAboutFunHobbies i've also had a 69 gto that i've driven close to 200.

I had a GPZ 750 that I did around 165 on. I have to say it was more intense doing 165 on a motorcycle than doing 190 in a car. Plus I got hit in the knuckle by a beetle it left a huge welt on my hand.

That drift car sure is sweet! Ive been thinking of doing a taipan or the new 1/8 for a while just getting funds together, will follow this thread close.
Heck Ive done all the speeding in question an point of fact a bike on the track doing 115/125 on the straight then dipping into a 167* turn at 90 all while scrapping my knee an elbow is WAY more exciting than any straight line speeds. I currently race (as a hobby) at Jennings GP in florida an love every weekend I go! 2007 zx10r is my current ride, once had a 69.5 elcamino she would see 9.9 in the 1/4 an I pegged the speedo many a times also done 145+ in a gutted honda hatchback with four full grown men in it! Speeds always a thrill to me but real racing (were you dont just turn left
) is where its at!

Tonights progress as it were. Powder coated the flywheel, flywheel spacer, Exhaust header, throttle and brake linkage, mounted up the trans and drive shafts to check fit and see how things were progressing.

Ya there will be, I'm thinking letting him do his thing, with the black and purples putting our logo on the side, like my savage and then maybe he can do something with those masks he posted up there, HOW ABOUT IT BLUE, starting thinking what you can do with the colors of our logo, our logo and those masks you posted. Not sure what body yet though, maybe you can look at some bodies and tell me what body would look good, what do you think there blue.
