I buy many new cars, but I also sell off old ones frequently. I Rarely keep more than 5 or 6 a time. I try to keep a varied collection in terms of scale and power type.

I had 9 competition nitros at one time once, and it was ridiculous. Not only did I not know which car to run, but also which to upgrade. I made a decision then (a couple of years ago) to never have more than 5 again. Here are my current babies (lol, monsters, they're all 1/5th scale)...

I am up to about 23 and it is way too many. Granted about 5 are NIB classics that require no work, the other 18 are pretty brutal.

Mix of electric/nitro/gas 1/5, 1/8, 1/10 and 1/18. Each one has its purpose but the work is overwhelming. I have been meaning to sell some, but I am too busy working on the other ones.

For me, it's pretty simple. When I have more cars, planes, helis, etc. than time to play with them, it's too many. I think for me the limit seems to be about a half-dozen of any one thing. I've got ten flyable planes and flown 5 so far this year, and I sold two cars so down to 4, all of them get played with now that the herd has been thinned. When I had six cars going, I was always wrenching on something instead of driving...

I think too many is when you run out of storage space for them!!

I think I am at this point already. I try to buy then sell old ones and least favorites. But I end up collecting them.

I live in a condo with a small storage room. Filled that room to the max, Bought a small storage shed and filled that one up also in no time. Now I try to hide stuff from my wife here and there, 2 in my closet, 1 in the oven (she never uses it) etc. I think I need help.

as described in the dictionary, many is described as being one of a large but indefinite number, add the word too, which is described as to an excessive degree. You are talking large quantities.

As long as you have the money to spend and space to put them.

To many? What can possilby be better then enough? How about more then enough!! Anyway the crazy thing about RC cars is that they keep coming up with new classes which seem so different and unique you just have to have one. I mean just look at the new classes of RC cars that have just grown in the past few years. Drifting really didn't take off in USSA until the movie "The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift" Crawling also is new and exciting as the they finally made an RC that was designed solely for crawling. Now anyone can do it. And now they have 1/18 scale crawlers. Mini's are great to I was blown away at RCX when I saw the Mini Z's zipping around a small track. And now they make an even smaller Mini Z that is smaller then a Mini T. And yeah the Mini T's, DT's, ect are also a blast to drive. HPI Baja brought Gas 1/5th scale to the Amercan Masses and is popular throuout the world. A new scale truck from Traxxas, a RTR from Losi that can do 60mph out of the box with a 3s Lipo. You could easily have dozens of cars and not 2 of them be the same in terms of style, scale, class, and purpose. In fact it's easy to have 10 or more cars in the same scale and not 2 of them be the same. Example 1/10th scale cars (Savage for nitro MT racing, Emaxx for electic MT bashing, T4 stadium truck racing, B4 buggy racing, Rustler VXL for eletric thrashing, Speed T for speed Runs, XRay T2 for on road racing, Losi Drift for drifting, Axial Crawler for crawling, Wheelie King for wheelies and fun, custom Tuber Crawler), and few anyone of those cars fully hopped up for a shelf queen. 11 cars all the same scale and no redundancy, and I'm sure I missed some. So with all this variety it's almost impossible to have to many RC cars. It's good to spread them out and have variety.

You have too many when you don't enjoy them all.

To many ????? What does that mean ? You can never have to many . I`ve been told by my parents and a few friends that I`m addicted to RC . Maybe I do have too many , in their eyes . I like to have my cars/trucks that I race plus others to bash around with at home , plus the boats for water fun .

That's a good post. I have about 13 R/C cars. They are all different.
I have:
Racers
1 touring car for carpet racing
2 4wd Buggies for indoor clay racing
1 Stadium Truck for outdoor dirt/ indoor clay racing

Bashers
2 Monster Trucks all different
-
Vintage-Shelfers
1 vintage 2wd Buggy
1 Vintage 4wd Stadium Truck, one of a kind
1 Vintage Monster Truck(still in the box)

My goal is to have about 2 more machines for racing. So I can run 2wd Mod Buggy(dunno which one yet) on indoor clay
and Monster Truck(Erevo probably) on loose dirt again.

For me, it got to the point where I no longer had the means to run all of them. I am in the process of letting them go on eBay. Usually 2 or 3 per week. I'm getting the collection down to only what I really want and need.
