How to start a savage X???"..
hey guys!
i once more need your expert advice!
I just got a Savage X 4.6 i think
I tryed to start it just to get the 'old fuel' out and see how it works.....
but i didn't see any button to 'PRIME the gas to the engine'.....
I tryed to block the exhaust with my finger.... and hit the rotostart for almost 4 mins... i stopped & noticed no fuel was going inside the fuel line

sounds like either a clog or a leak in the fuel system... replace all the fuel lines, and blow through the fuel tank inlet and outlet to make sure they are clear, same with the carb, and check/replace the fuel filter

Take the fuel line out that connects to your pipe nipple. Then blow in there and that should get the fuel into the carb. Or it is an air leak in the fuel line or gas tank.

Check the tank lid seal, that's a real common spot for an air leak.
Also, don't run the roto start for 4 minutes at a time, none of those parts are intended for more than a 30 sec or so run. Besides, if it won't start inside of a couple of 30 sec tries that's a pretty good clue there's somethng not right.

You just have to blow harder.
If you actually KNOW how to prime an engine, there isnt any problem with priming it the way you are suppose to by covering the pipe.

I just don't feel confident into blowing & getting some old greesy Nitro & toxic into my mouth im sure the HPI way should be blocking the exhaust... but anyways
i don'T see any leaks or cracks anywhere..
the person from whom i bought it told me it fired up fast & used it 5 to 10 times for break in only
by the dirt i seen on the car i can believe that

Hold your finger over the exhaust untill you see fuel HIT THE CARB, then remove (don't hold on forever), then pop on the glow driver... Also check your rotostart batteries are charged, if they aren't... its alot harder to fire up an engine

push button primers suck, its not a question of IF it will leak, but when.... the fuel should go from the tank to the carb in just a couple seconds blocking the exaust. did you replace the fuel lines? Check the tank for obstructions by clowing into it? or are you just waiting for someone to suggest something that seems easier?

I only ask because you said
which would lead one to believe you haven't done either, because if you put on brand new fuel tubing, you wouldn't be worried about old greasy nitro in your mouth, right?...

Trucks are no different than any other nitro vehicle. The basics are the same. The fuel system has to be sealed before the exhaust can preasurize the system. You've obviously got a leak that won't allow the system to preasurize. All you have to do is check the lines and tank until you find the problem.
The only other thing it could be is a clogged HSN/LSN and you'll really have to put that dirty, nasty, oily, toxic line to your lips and blow through it to find out if that's an issue.

You may have old fuel plugging the highspeed needle. You can count the turns in for the highpeed needle and then remove the needle and then try blowing thru the airline from the fuel tank. Then reset the needle to the old setting. I use these primers from my local hobby shop.

Take the fuel lines off at the carb and exhaust. Blow into the tube from the exhaust. You should have good amount of fuel coming out if not tank might be clogged. I just bought a used savage and the tank was to gummed up. A new one is only 16.00 and two bucks for tubing.

Is your glo plug tight? You have air leaking somewhere. About 3 tugs on my pull cord will prime my Savage. 4 minutes of Rotostart would empty the tank.
