Default How can i control an rc toy over internet?

Hello! Can you please help me with this? I want to control an RC car over internet. For example I want to control an RC car using my browser or any other software. Technology could be bluetooth control, radio control or anything else. I am really not familiar with the different remote technologies. Is it possible? Can you give me any websites or materials where I can educate myself? Thank you in advance!

The software will control real cars not virtual, animated ones. Can you please help? I am wondering about the technology. Is it done before and how?

it's so possible with the technology today. bluetooth won't give you the range. you can go with Wi-Fi, but you will need a on-board computer to talk the ESC.

You can research about it, I'm in the computer industry, it's possible. but you need some skills & money.

Its possible. We are doing it with our robot in the FIRST Robitcs' Competetion. All the robots are controlled over WiFi

Thank you for your replies. Let's say that we have 1 car or 1 robot or whatever based in my room. I have a software program on my computer with which I can control my toy. What I want to know is how can we make the connection between my computer and the toy so I can control the toy.

Thank you for your replies. Let's say that we have 10 cars or 10 robots or whatever based in a garage. We have a website where the user goes and registers. After that he/she can download a software program with which he/she can control his toy over internet. What I want to know is how can we make the connection between our server computer and the toys so every user can control his one toy.
it's alot complicated than you think since you are controlling real RC cars.. but if it's virtual RC, still wouldn't be too easy..
you will need on-board cameras for all the RC cars.. and live streaming the video back to the server...who's going to charge the battery? who if it flips??

Let say I register and I live beside the garage and i drive the car home.

I suggest you forget about this thought...

The big problem is lag. With FIRST WiFi is just the protocol, it isn't being sent over the internet. Everyone is right there to actually control their robot as far as I know. It's just the controller and receiver is using the WiFi protocol. I can drive my Spykee robot over the net and he has a noticeable lag (the time between when I tell him to 'go forward' and I actually see him moving through the onboard camera). This might be okay for slowly navigating your house, but RC cars are much faster and a delay of even 1/5th of a second is going to cause problems.

I created a project that controlls an rc car over the internet. For detailed instruction and explination of all steps including source code see:

That is the strangest legitimate first post I have ever seen.

However I am interested. I've been looking for a USB radio transmitter so that I can program and control quadrocopters and such from a computer application. Is this possible?

It depends on the range you want. You can hook up a Raspberry Pi and Webcam and control it from the WiFi of your house. If you want really cool stuff, look into making it an IoT device with cellular connection.
