How good is the e-savage?

It's a decent truck but it's outdated to say the least. If you want a brushed electric MT go with something like the E-Revo. If you want a highn end electric truck the Savage Flux (based off of the Savage X) is excellent and very durable. It can do over 60mph with the right batteries.

It's a good basher, but parts can be hard to find sometimes. Even though I prefer the E-Savage, I'd generally recommend the E-maxx to people for that reason.

The E-savage, but when it does break (and it will as do all RCs) Parts will be harder to find. Maxx parts can be found anywhere, as can Savage X parts... but the E-savage isn't compatible with nitro savage or savage flux parts.

Whats stronger the e-maxx or e-savage?

Not only that, but you can get the e-savage for less money than the maxx.
The maxx goes for about $350(requires batteries and charger)
At stormer the e-savage sport is $255(requires batteries and charger)
the e-savage RTR is $310 (only requires 8 AAs for radio)

A lot of places carry parts for the e-savage. Tower, for example, carries enough parts for it to build a whole new truck. Stormer and e-bay also have parts for it.

Yeah, but it's less likely to find them locally than maxx parts at this point. And the availability will only drop from here on out.

It's a good truck, my 10 year old has one and loves it. You probably won't find too many LHS carrying parts for it but he's pretty rough on it and has only had one failure, a broken diff output gear. HPI was pretty good about sending new diff gears and they looked to be of higher quality steel than the ones I removed so I don't see it happening again. If we were to do it again at around the same price we would get an E firestorm FLUX as I believe it will have a longer parts support in addition to Brushless / LiPo's increase in popularity, less maintanance, and increasingly lower costs as they become mainstream. I just bought a brushless combo and LiPo for his Mini Baja so it's only a matter of time before we go brushless on the E-Savage... hopefully it can handle it.

If you have a good parts supply then go for it, it's a great truck. One thing to note is that it isn't much aftermarket support for it though, unlike the maxx.

The stock batteries of the e-savage RTR are 3300 packs. I don't know how long they last, though. My bro's e-savage was a sport. On a good day his 3000 packs would last almost 20 minutes. The 3000 packs aren't very good quality, though.
