The Problem I see with submerging Mesh int your Tank, is that you are Displacing Fuel and you will get Less run Time.....

You only get about 8 minutes Max,,,and you might cut a couple minutes OFF that......

I am sure I will lose some run time, but I think it will be minimal. And if it lets me run the tank down further instead of having to refuel at a half tank, then the net result will be a gain in run time.

since the foam absorbs there should be no real loss in run time. it may displace a tiny bit of fuel.

Well, after 4 days in the fuel, the foam seems to be unaffected. And the fuel has not been discolored or anything like some previous materials caused. I am going to put it in the tank on the MXB and see what happens. The pull start broke last weekend, so I have to fix that before I can run. But at the latest, I will try it this coming weekend and report results. And hey, if the engine gets trashed, what better excuse for an OS-CV-R, an SH Pro or even a 21??

It worked!! I was able to run the tank completely empty, and I did not see any bubbles in the fuel line until I was sucking air. And the temps held almost exactly the same through the whole tank. Now I will not really know what the long term effect is on the engine, if any, for some time. But the scrub pad did what I hoped as far as stopping the fuel from sloshing in the tank and picking up air bubbles. I will try to remember to come back after a few weeks and follow up about long term effects. But I am not expecting to see anything.

I cut a block about 1" x 1" x 2" and stuffed it between the pickup tube and the baffles in the tank. I put it in with the 2" side up/down. That size piece is bigger than the space, but I wanted to pack it in a bit since my earlier trials on the bench let the fuel continue to move around a good bit without packing it in.

[:@]Oh well - there is still hope the engine could die after a few more tanks!

I think it was actually better because I did not have to stop to fill up when I still had 1/4 or 1/3 tank. I am sure the tank holds a little less since I packed it in pretty good, but the run time is at least the same if not longer.
