RCU's first ever Car Event Coverage. ROAR Electric Off Road Nationals
RCUis proud to announce that we will be covering our first ever RCCar Event. I will be traveling to Omaha,Ne this week to provide on-site coverage for the ROARNationals Electric Off Road Nationals races. These will be held on June 25 - June 28 at the Hobbytown Hobbyplex Racewayin Omaha, Ne. I will actually be on-site on Wednesday which is scheduled as a practice so that we can bring you as much coverage of the event as possible, including action from the practices. Iwill be posting pictures and video each nightfrom the event. I'll be trying to bringyou as much information as to who has qualifiedeach day, as well as those great "action shots"that everybody loves to see.Once theMains startI'll try my best to bring youeach round of racingin video so that you don't miss that action. Oh yeah, I'll make sureto get asmany ofthose "crash shots" that we all like to seetoo (come on, be honest with yourself. We all love to see them!! ). If there is something you would like to see me cover please feel free to let me know and I'll do my best to get it into the coverage if at all possible.
We'll be bringing our high quality coverage of this event to all of our RCUmembers with a COMPLETEcoverage wrap-up in the RCUMagazineonce the event has completed (usually posted 1-2 weeks after the event completes). The coverage will contain videos of all the action plus enough pictures to make any "car guy"drool!! SO make sure you keep an eye here as I'll let you know when that article goes live.
But don't think you have to wait until then to see what's going on. AsI said, I'll be posting here every night with action from the day in video and pictures. So make sure you check back here every day to see what's going on in Omaha. And don't forget to get me your suggestions.
To be completely honest with you all I'm actually pretty excited to be covering this event. This will be my first ever car competition and I'm pretty pumped up to cover it. I'll be traveling to Omaha tomorrow, soI'll see you all back here Wednesday night with the first bit of action from the track. Hope to see you all then.

Sounds good. Hope RCU can be like UndergroundRC in a way always producing RC racing videos. Oh ya, when you are there go and meet Jeremy Fellas. He lives in Nebraska now after leaving Orange County. He is VERY hard to miss.

I am in Omaha now. I stopped by the track to find out what time they start tomorrow. There are supposed to be 350+ drivers here this weekend racing. so it should be a VERY good event. I will do my absolute best to keep you guys updated everything going on here.

Welcome to Omaha! Enjoy our comfortable 110 degree weather. That hobbytown USA is the ONLY hobbystore in the omaha area, it's good to see some publicity. I just might show up and see what's going on.

Ok guys, time for a little bit of an update on the event. Today was supposed to be open practice in the morning and then move into controlled pratice in the afternoon. However, Mother Nature had a little bit different idea. On Tuesday night Omaha received 1-1/2" of rain in an hour. As you can see in the pictures, it left the track a soupy muddy mess. The grounds crew worked to try and get the track dried out and cleaned up so they could start practice.

At one point they did get a couple of cars out to see if they were going to be able to run. These definitely weren't cars that were going to be used for the competition. They did get a few laps in, but as you can see it was a pretty big mess.

However, Mother Nature decided that she wasn't finished yet. By 11 am it was sprinkling again and a look at the radar online showed that Omaha was getting ready to get wet again. The grounds crew hurried to get the track covered under tarps.

With the rain falling and the track closed down most the drivers on site spent the morning in the pits getting their vehicles ready to run in the event the rain stopped and the track was opened back up.

The rain lasted for the better part of the afternoon. But by 3:30 or so the showers cleared through the area and the crew went to work getting the tarps off the track and gettig ready to run on.

Around 4:30 or so the track was opened back up for a semi-controlled practice. They ran 15 drivers at a time for 6 minutes, regardless of class the vehicle. And trust me, the line to get on the track was long as drivers wanted to dial in their vehicles as well as get familiar with the track. Here are some highlights from the practice runs. I do hope you enjoy them
