I assume you're talking about adding a 2-speed transmission? The buggy must already have some gears installed otherwise the power wouldn't get from the engine to the wheels and it wouldn't move.
Short answer is that it depends on the vehicle - and if there is an optional 2-speed optional upgrade available for it from the manufacturer or another company.

there are 2 speed and even some 3 speed transmission kits available for some cars like the hyper 7. So yes it can be done, what vehicle are you talking about?
