Nitro Star 15fe operating temp?

What temp should I run this engine on my Nitro MT? It seems like the motor is very sluggish off the line until temps hit 260 degrees. It seems to run its best anywhere from 260-280. Is this to hot for this engine?

HPI engines like to run at the higher spectrum, around 275 is what they call the highest safe operating temp, they say when you 300 it drastically reduces engine life...

but 260-280 is fine.

Thanks. That is what I thought. This thing is such a dog when its cold. Its hard for my to give it any gas when I first start it with out it dieing. Does that tell me its to rich? I think part of the problem is I can't tune the low end.

your right, that only comes with a single needle carb..... you should be able to pick up a dual needle carb for cheep somewhere.... i think the OS 10 E carb fits as well... but don't quote me on that.

I'd say that anything over 275 is HOT for a cheap engine.

You will be reducing your engine life.

Try a different fuel!
