Engine problem
 

Hi everyone

I am a newbie and looking for some help with the GS racing 1/8 truggy engine ( it is for the storm unlimited)
The problem is first the one way bearing for the pull start got damaged and I could not use the pull start anymore, had to dismantle everything to check.
Now I am using a OFNA starter box to start the engine. The Engine runs only till the starter box is in contact with the fly wheel and stalls after it is removed.
I am not sure what the problem is. And I also have not fixed the one way bearing back into the engine.

Could it be the fuel? My fuel was not used for about 6 months and it was mixed locally.

Some please give me an insight into this

try priming it with gasoline. NOTE: GASOLINE LIGHTS EASY, and must have a reg fire extinguisher. nitro and methanol are harder to light, but you cant see meth or nitro flame in daylight, but you can put out the flame with water. just be very careful.

well you do have a good point, i think ill retract that advise. using gasoline around rc cars isnt for every one. i ALWAYS carry some water when bashing, to put out a methanol fire. i guess i broke my rule #1., think before i speak. i think i like these cats at this site

Are you trying to start the engine backwards? Make sure the bump box is spinning the flywheel counter-clockwise.

Hi 7strider, take out the glo plug and put your buggy back on the starter box and give it a push, see if there is fuel spitting out the top of the cylinder head, if so you know that fuel is circulating.
If no fuel is spitting out the top check all your fuel lines(maybe pinched some were), als check that the fuel tank cap closes tight and check all fuel line connections for air leaks
check your engine also for air leaks around the carb, back plate(where the pull starter used to be) and your front man bearing.
check that your glow plug igniter is fully charged.
Check the glow plug that it gives a nice orange or red colour. also check the state of the glow plug when you take it out the engine, is it wet after trying to start your engine or is it dry????
what engiine are you using??? if you can give me that info I'll see around for the factory set up, could be that the low speed and high speed needles are out of wack. See if the rubbers around the needles are still O.K, jst unscreww the needles and have a quick look.
