Does Nitro Make Your Hands Itch?
 

Last year I had this phase where I had small itchy blisters on my hands, and it all kind of went away over the winter. Then this morning I woke up and it was back, out of the blue. I was wondering, yesterday I had my first decent day of running nitro.., and in the process, as usual, my hands got all grimy and covered with oil and nitro and gunk... It could be something else and just a coincidence, but it made me wonder.. The problem went away more or less in sync with the period that I wasn't running my RC's..., and then came back when I started up again. Still, could be a coincidence.. Anybody else have skin problems from nitro?..

I have never had any problems with it m8 ....i get my hands dripping with the stuff most days ,,,

You could have some sort of allergic reaction to nitro. Who knows? May wanna get it checked out by your dermatologist. I've never had any problems with it.

Agreed.

I've never experienced this myself, but I do make sure if I spill any on myself to wipe it off asap. It's not the healthiest stuff in the world, as pointed out by the state of California on every bottle of fuel I've ever seen. :eek:

That stuff doesn't bother me, but then again I've spent my entire life working on full scale cars so my skin is a bit hardened against chemicals.

You could have a allergic reaction or something. I would try not to get any nitro on your hands. To me nitro always feels freezing cold.

There are chemicals in hydrocarbon fuels that can cause what you're seeing for some people. Exposure over time can also lead to allergic reactions like what your describing. Most hydrocarbons can cause sensitizing reactions.

As suggested above, it's totally possible that you are allergic to some component of nitro fuel.

Vinyl rubber gloves are cheap and effective.

Had another random thought.. IF it is nitro-related, it did start to appear last year about the time I switched from Sidewinder to Tornado fuel... Never had it before really.. And was running SW for years..

Well....I'd take a sample of your fuel, and go see a proper doc / dermatologist, and have a sit down with him/her. ;)

I have never had any itch or rash from it. Maybe try wearing nitrile gloves when handling fuel?
