E10 Metal Diff gears?
I need a set of metal diff gears for my E10. The plastic pinion gear keeps stripping/half melting when i gear up for High speed technical racing. Its set up four touring. Any help would be great appreciated! The drive system is pretty well stock right now, except for the motot and motor side pinion gear.

RE: E10 Metal Diff gears?
Only recommendation I can give you is Buy another RC.
I contacted HPI for metal gears for the EB10 (same exact gears) over a year ago, and HPI said they never intended the E10/eb10 to be anything more than a intro RC, and will not be making any upgrades for it (even though their damn site said otherwise) BTW I wasted ALOT of cash trying to upgrade the drivechain, and that damn plastic gear kept failing no matter what. |
RE: E10 Metal Diff gears?
Yay... I can buy diff set for 7 bucks from liquid rc, the gear last about two weeks if im nice to it. I also had to put spacers inside the drive cups coming out from the diffs cause the dogbones are about 5mm to short. maybe ill take a new one to a machine shop and see if they can make them...

GL
I think HPI screwed up big time with the E10/EB10 they could have easily had a good seller if they did a few minor changes like use metal gears for the diff, and mabe a better plastic for the chassis. The one I had the rear diff gear lasted 5 minutes before melting, and 2 minute later the rear end snapped off the chassis ;) After that I went tamiya. I'll be honest for how much it will cost to machine, you could probably pick a tamiya kit up, and have a superior RC with better parts support. |
RE: E10 Metal Diff gears?
the new thunder tiger sparrowhawk has the steel gears... those things look bullet proof.
will be getting one of those to try it out, cheap and looks like a good one. |
