Zip ties
Do you use an specific kind of zip ties on a nitro car? I need them for my air filter and my exhaust line.

RE: Zip ties
Just any ol' zip tie that's sized right will work. I'm using o-rings on my air filter at the moment, though, but it came with them and they're plenty secure.

I tend to buy the cheapest I can find from harbor freight, the assorted ones that come in the big jug for like $6.

RE: Zip ties
Not that it makes much difference on a RC model, but I was always under the impression that white was for indoor stuff, and black was for outdoor use (resists UV light I think). So I usually buy black ones as maybe they are more resiliant in some other way as well.
As far as construction goes, I generally buy regular ones, and since they are generally small, they can be cut off and thrown away without any sort of significant expense. But it is nice to get the ones with the lever so they can be re-used. I think I've only seen the lever ones in sizes too large for RC use, other than maybe holding a battery pack down. I do use a lever one to hold the battery pack down in my NTC3 and it's nice to be able to re-use it when I have to remove the batteries for one reason or another. |

RE: Zip ties
use the black ones. the softer plastic will stretch and not break. and the best quality you can find (good ones have a weight rating). no need to loose your nitro engine to dirt because you wanted to save a dollar or two on zips for your filter. its happened to me.[:@]

also you can use them on shock springs to lower the truck.

RE: Zip ties
What ever type of zip ties you use, they are easily reused. A small sharp screw driver or scalpel (etc) can be used to lift the tang.....never cut the excess too short.
