trucks or buggies?

Which is your favorite?

well here goes the flame war but i prefer my 1/8th buggy it combines the power, quickness, and handling of the stadium trucks and the toughness, go anywhere, and do repairs with a hammer ability like a bigger MT

i mean i have tried everything electric and nitro and have to say i will only own a 1/8th buggy from now on.

I'm going with Shadow102 here. Stadium trucks are cool, but unless they are 4WD, they are somewhat limited in where they can go. Monster trucks are cool, but they lack agility. Their handling definitely leaves something to be desired.

Buggies are durable, agile, can go almost anywhere and flat out fast. They provide a certain rush that I personally have not experienced while driving a stadium or monster truck. I.M.O., they are a combination of all that is good with Offroad RC.

yea Stadium trucks would be alot better bashers if they were 4wd. As far as racing goes stick with 2wd.

IAMaxxer 08-13-2003 02:28 PM

why stick with 2wd for racing???

4wd is better for racing!!! because you get better handling and more control!!

4wd equals less speed, more weight, and more stuff to break. As long as the driver is good a 4wd ST shouldnt be needed.

Don't plan on running either in grass, at least not at high speeds. 4wd is the best way to go IMO. Most of my electrics are 2wd & they don't handle nearly as well as my 4wds.

better traction, handling and...

the heavier the front end the less wheeling = less waiting for the marshals when you flip!!!

I love buggies, but I run MTs on rougher terrain so I equally like both. I think 4WD is far better in handling and grip, the Losi XX4 I had (sold to my father) was quick, agile with a low turn motor and won races with the 2WD B3's, B4's, XX's, and XXX's.

I get the most thrill and rush from stadium trucks however- they're incredibly light, fast and challenging. At least that's what I felt when driving a Mugen MST-1.

I have never seen a car wheelie and land on its lid in a race. someone would have to be pretty dumb to run a car that wheelies in a race. Most people gear up so that this doesnt happen.

yes i know...

but i have seen it!!! 4wd is better for racing,

ok if 4wd is better for racing then why arent all stadium trucks 4wd????????????

IAMaxxer 08-14-2003 08:13 PM

why are...

buggies 4wd,
and on road??

All you said was that 4wd is better for racing you never stated what cars you meant. 1/10 STs are raced so How am I suppose to repsond to "4wd is better for racing"

also here is one of your statements

"the heavier the front end the less wheeling = less waiting for the marshals when you flip!!!"

you are now basically saying that you have seen a 2wd onroad car and a 2wd 1/8 buggy flip on there lid from pulling a wheelie. You are saying stuff that makes no sense at all.

its actually possible to flip 4wd also. i mean if you have a tmaxx jump it off a jump and land with the throttle pinned if you landed on the rear tires it will proceed to wheeling then land on its lid. i mean it all depends on the driver. btw there are 1/10th 4wd ST they are the RS4mt and the new MRC truck. it just so happens that 2wd is the standard for 1/10th ST racing but if you notice when running these trucks the exhibit huge amounts of understear due to the uneven weight distribution where as a 4wd vehicle is more neutral in the turns and can have its characteristics changed by varying differential grip

get two hpi nitro mts, take the front drive assembly out of one and leave the other. the 2wd will be faster.

Good drivers do not need 4wd Stadium trucks, Its that simple. If someone cant control a 2wd stadium truck then they have no business racing. Also if you had half a brain you wouldnt set your stadium truck up to wheelie so bad it flips on its lid. If he/she aint smart enough to gear up or add weight then he/she has something wrong with them.
