how much is this E-MAXX worth?
I found an older E-Maxx on Craigslist in "great condition", I think it's the 3906 model (14.4v). I havn't seen it yet but it's apparently adult owned and well taken care of, plus the seller lives close to my town. The pics look basically stock.
He's asking $150. Is that a good deal? It seems like a good price considering he said it has very little use and works as it should, plus 2 batteries are included. Thanks, Kevin |

Not a bad asking price if its in really nice condition. See if you can talk him down some.

i dont want to pop your bubble, but i had a newer e-maxx(16.8v) and was pretty disapointed with it... it broke a lot.
150$ might be a good price, but if you buy it, know what your getting your self into. |

Thats a pretty good price if its in good shape. I would reccomend that if you have plans to go brushless though, go ahead and get something that can handle it. The driveline will cost a lot to upgrade on the older maxx if those are your plans down the road.
However, if you dont mind spending the money, or if you just want to enjoy it brushed, they are fun trucks. They go for over $200 on ebay all the time. See if he'll take $125 and id say that would be a great deal[8D] |

Thanks for the input. I was going to offer him $120, then $140, and finally $150 if nothing else. I don't plan to go brushless with it anytime soon, I'm just looking for a 4x4 monster truck and I've always wanted an E-Maxx due to the large size. I have a friend who bashes his like a madman and it's held up fine. I know some stuff about RC's and I'm aware of what I'm getting into.
Thanks again, Kevin |
RE: how much is this E-MAXX worth?
I kickd myself for not making a move sooner on a simialr deal in my area. The guy asked $160 for a first generation E-Maxx and I payed him a visit to inspect it. I was in good shape except a shock shaft was bent. I pointed this out to him and after some negotiations the price came to $130. I should have brought cash with me because the next day when I called back to let him know I had the cash, the truck had been sold. Bummer
If the truck is in good mechanical shape and it runs well and includes all the necessary components then $150 is a good price. $125 is better! Be sure to inspect the truck closely for damage and wear. Of course it will have wear from use, however, I look closely at the following areas: - Flex the suspension all around, feel for tight spots or binding in the motion. This may indicate a bent part like a shock shaft, suspension arm or hinge pin. - Look over the suspension to see if all the screws match and that they're not stripped or broken. Look into the hubs and check for damage. - Give the chassis a good look over and check for mis-matched parts, excess damage or modifications. - Test all the electrical components and drive the truck. Bring your own radio / crystals and a few batteries if possible. - If possible, ask to remove the motor or pinon so you can push the truck by hand. This will give you a feel of the drive train and you can check for potentially bad bearings, damaged transmission gears orother troubled areas. Soemtimes the drive shafts get worn out and will have excess slop. They may also get bentin which theybind and cause drag. Hold the truck and turn a tire and see if the differential feels gritty or smooth. This is probably the biggest one for me since it's nearly impossible to see the condition of the diffrentials or transmission unless you dismantle the truck. |

Hey guys,
I snagged it for $125 and it is literally in MINT condition! Best purchase I've ever made, everything is clean as new with one tiny scratch on the body. It was some rich man with too many RC's trying to "clear up some space", therefore he was willing to sell it for cheap. Thanks for the input! Kevin |
