except in this case cheap probably is not an option for what he wants

comparably cheap, i mean if you put a bracket on what is cheap and what isn't you would never be able to buy certain things

You will have a lot better luck here. A servo for a 60 pound rc car/car whatever is not common. Its probably going to cost $$$$$.

Your only option is either a home made one from a windscreen wiper motor or something like that (you need to be very handy with electronics to make that work), or a Tonegawa PS-050.

I recommend you use or build a servo saver. I hereby formally request a build thread in which you post pictures of your plans and progress.

RE: i need a servo with really high torque

What about multiple servos (like,Ibelieve, the LST) ? If the ENTIRE car is 60 lbs that doesn't mean that the servos are pulling 60 lbs. They are just turning the wheels and pulling throttle linkage. TheBaja 5B is 3 feet and weighs around 30 lbs. Couldn't you find a way to double up two of those servos. I may very well be wrong, but I saw your thread and the thoughtoccurred to me.

Also, check out the threads is the GiantScaleforum, a couple guys were working on 1/2 scale and 1/4 scalecars. I don't remember the namesof the threads, but the guys in there are very knowledable about large heavy RCs.

Which is why you should go to the giant scale forum. The few people that I saw, who were working on the 1/2 scales, don't seem to come intothis forum.

-Also TBJ's suggestion of the dual JR 8711 servos would also work.
