the rs4 is an older model that is being replaced by hpis r40. if your going to get an HPI get the r40 and you will be very happy with it.

this is the on road i would consider buying not in any order.

u need to help us help u, andy - do u plan to race, or just bash? what is your budget? kit or rtr?

finally - the most important step in getting a new nitro car is checking out your LHS and finding out what parts they stock. nothing worse than breaking a 2.00 part and having to wait 2 weeks because your LHS has to order it.

only problem with the r40 is thta it will have belts if im not mistaken. i dont know about that car but i have the original nitro rs4 and if you dont play in a clean place, you will be going to your car and getting the little rock or pebble that flies up into between your belt and diff gear. it happened to me today, man i hate them.
if u want one just to play around with i would get the rs43. hpi is a pretty good brand. if u want to play around and maybe do a little racing, get the tc3. just my opinions
if you can, try to get a shaft driven car, no worries about those rocks then :D

but then again, any car you choose you will have a blast with so dont worry

You still pick up pebbles in a NTC3 they got caught between the pinion and spur gears and can chew them up pretty good.

So you are not safe from rocks with shaft or belt drives.

i have a tc3 and it happened today a rock got caught between the pinion and the spur and (edited) the spur i got very upset o well now i have to buy a new one. and i dont want belts and its for parking lot racing with my friends

yes i know you arent totally safe but on my rs4 there are 7 places the rock can get stuck includidng the spur/clutchbell gear
unlike the tc3 which is only 1 the spur/clutchbellgear. plus im sure that 1 staft has a lot less drag and friction than 3 belts
