Servo question

I am buying a buggy off a fellow racer and just had one question. It is a Tekno E-converted Losi 1/8 scale. All I need for it is Tx/Rx, LiPo (4s), and a servo. My question is what kind of torque and speed should I be looking for? Can anyone recommend some good budget servos for it? I have experience with 1/8 scales, just not with electronics for them. Any help will be appreciated!

RE: Servo question

If you're racing, I would personally go with Hi-Tech or Savox. Make sure you set your end-points.

Thanks TG! I run a Savox SC-0251mg in my Slash 4X4 and LOVE it. It runs 222.oz/in @ (i believe) .16 sec. Would something like this be enough for steering this monster buggy?

And of course I will be racing, the only time I "bash" anything is torture testing new mods and such. I am just waiting on this tax return to come in within the next few days and I will be buying the buggy, which the guy is holding for me.

RE: Servo question

The higher the torque, the better.

With high torque servos, you can use a long servo arm and end up with ridiculous speeds.

My personal favorite steering servo is the Towerpro MG 959, 190oz or torque at 6 volts, is coreless, digital, metal gear, BB, has a nifty aluminum case, and runs about $30.

As for throttle, I like my futuba 3050. The 3150 is also a fantastic, affordable servo.
