That is an INCREDIBLY bad marketing strategy.

lol honestly looking at the features it supposedly has I'd be scared to use it there are so many things that could go wrong with it
and i like the interface is like JR... so I'm guessing its not JR then, and its something like it...

RE: ON-ROAD

i think about £200

Foxy 06-07-2012 06:28 AM

RE: ON-ROAD

Is that price just for a kit, or fully up and running? You want electric or nitro? You want just grip or drift too?

thehuntingterminator 06-07-2012 09:44 AM

RE: ON-ROAD

Any brands in particular or any models you had been looking at? I did a conversion and your budget is roughly equivalent to $310 USD, which should get you a pretty decent ride.

I'm a fan of the older Hobao hyper 10e I think there is lots of parts in the UK

i want it to be nitro like my buggie and i want it to drift

Foxy 06-08-2012 04:16 AM

RE: ON-ROAD

Nitro+drifting=dead engine. If you want to drift you need electric or lots of money for replacement engine parts.

I need to know what your 200 quid budget includes...everything? Or just a kit? If just a kit, you will need at least another 150 quid for the rest of what's needed. If the 200 has to include everything except fuel and batteries, then you are very limited in terms of what you can buy, that is really not enough money to get a good start with something that will last.

This is a good deal for 239... http://www.modelsport.co.uk/hpi-rs4-...&ChassisID=437

It's still hard to recommend drifting with nitro, wouldn't you say, as a narwhal who drifts?

^ LOL too funny!
I agree Foxy, you would have to have an engine with some serious low end torque, but yet high rpm's for nitro drifting to be "worth it" I guess.

narwalrus 06-08-2012 10:22 AM

RE: ON-ROAD

Well I've never used nitro, however using PVC pipe on a various surfaces with a brushless system on NiMh I never need to go past half throttle, and generally star around a fourth or a fifth.. I don't think this would be to hard on a nitro engine but it depends on the power and weight.

I'd just recommend purchasing electric, really...

And of course, that vehicle starts as a dedicated drifter. Maybe he just want's an on-road car that could slide?

The lack of information makes this difficult.

Edit: Looking at the video of the car (http://www.hpiracing.com/videoplayer/3/) that worries me. It has rubber tires, and says "full throttle drifting" and that car is going very fast....

RE: ON-ROAD

The HPI Foxy recommended would be great, and just throw a different set of tires on it to drift, I guess.

It's a decent car, yeh, if you like it and you can get spare parts for it easily, go for it.

these days brushless cars are faster... and can have longer run times compared to 1 tank of fuel

Any car can take a brushless motor.

RE: ON-ROAD

Although I haven't bought HPI before, the HPI Sprint 2 Flux seems like an overall good car. Decent price, driftability, very fast and RTR. They target it at VTA it seems now. You will need a batt. and charger.

Most on-road vehicles are not RTR brushless as most drivers prefer to choose their own setup, or build their own kit.
