that extension looks very dodgy, From the looks the only thing stoping that extension from been a hinge is the extra screw in the lower rail.

Dont think it would take much for that extension to fail

it may be strong enough to hold up....but it could have been done without looking so rough. It would have taken only a few more minutes to do the same thing and have it look much better.
