This sounded like the best pipe ever when I got it but now I don't think so. Since its a 2 peice that screws together it leaks all over .With that convergent cone in there it probably traps unburnt fuel in there almost half full till it blows it out of the piston.Every time I idle it to make an adjustment the pipe loads up and it runs really sluggish for about 4 high speed passes and it still never really cleans out.Ever since I put this pipe on my car its ran inconsistantly and leaks all over and I generally don't like it and I'm gonna go with the THS set.I know it says to tune it differently than with a normal pipe but I've tried tuning it every way possible and it just won't cooperate with me so I'm done with it.
On to the modification process of the CVEC,"if it doesn't perform right and your stuck with it,modify it".I'm takin the piston out completely,its bunk .I might end up cutting the convergence cone to leave a threaded coupler but for now,the piston is just coming out.About that dual exhaust.....gotta go,I'm into the import/street car look so I'm gonna ditch the 2 tubes by cutting them off and plugging them.Then I'm gotta rotate the pipe,hide the plugged doles and drill for a new huge stinger like the cosmetic one in my "Blue Eclipse "thread in paint and body.I have a header extension that was made for me by a freind so I'll actually be able to move the pipe to the rear and make it just like the one in the pic ,but real

I bought one and feel the same damn way. The thing sounds great but turns out to be just another gimic. I too, once i get some more cash, am going to buy the ths set

I'll try as soon as i get another exaust header. My hobby shop said they would order it and never did :( so i have to wait to the end of the week for the order to come in.

I just sent mine back to CVEC for replacement or repair or refund.

The stinger tips are threaded in...that's it! They are not welded in so the vibrations cause the stinger tips to back out and unscrew then I have to search the parking lot for the tips. Also, after a month of use, I noticed the clip holding down the spring inside is beginning to rust ?? Not good.

man.. and I almost got a Cvec.... I heard dynamite is really good.. and that's what I'm going with right now.. the best looking one I think is the fantom.. but it's like huge..

I have some new header gaskets and the pipe is torn down and the piston removed....My friend suggested cutting out everything but the threaded coupler part but I think that won't supply enough pressure to the tank.As soon as I get a chance I'll see what happens,maybe it'll stop loading up and chokin my engine.

A friend had the same problem. What i did was I cut, yes cut the piston housing out with a dremel (I cut it to the point where I was almost at the threads).Then what i did was I took some gasket sealer ( because it was resistant to heat) and spread around the threads of the pipe and the stingers. It seems to work fine now; nice and loud. ;)

I ended up takin out the piston but I didn't cut the convergence cone any.I did seal it like you said though and the stingers as well,I also drilled out my pressure fitting a little more so it'll give the tank a bit more pressure.I haven't fired it up yet but when I yank the pullstart I can tell its gonna be alot louder,it sounds cool.

FYI - There is an old style of CVEC pipe that is really hard to tune. It has a longer taper to it. The newer style (shorter taper) is the better of the two.

Do not use the rear exhaust header option (traps oil and makes the engine run terrible).

Shortly after I first got the pipe, some sludge stuck the piston shut and figuring that out was a pain. I pulled the piston out of mine (did not cut the cone) and it has been an awesome pipe. I am running it on a OS CV15 and it screams. I will be bolting it to an EPIC .18 big bore engine shortly.

Oh yeah, use Permatex copper exhaust sealant (bronze in color) to seal the pipe halves together. Works great and no more leaks at the halves.

I had a CVEC on my GT and thought it performed much better once i gutted it (took out the piston). It gives great sound (i like loudness:D) and the power was ok. Coulda been better, but coulda been worse ....... and mine didnt leak... hmmm

Ever since I got the pipe it made my car run hot and inconsistent where it would load up.I tried tuning every way possible but I just got sick of it.I'm glad to hear a few people have gutted the pipe,seems like the best idea to me and it IS gonna be loud,can't wait to hear it.I used the blue RTV gasket stuff but if it melts I'll go to the copper.I didn't think too much about oil in the header if I flipped it so I'll look at doin something else there.

Piston is out,and I finally ran the car....throttle response is so much better:DAnd the sound,oh the sound......perfect little 2-stroke "tink tink tink' metal pipe sound.I didn't run it long,something was interfering with my signal so I left but it never shifted into 2nd.It usually takes a minute to warm up and start shifting anyway but I may have lost backpressure enough to make it shift.I'm goin back out in awhile and I'll get a better chance to read temps and see if it shifts but so far.....its alot better.

I have the CVEC pipe it hauls some serious ass. it has a lot of punch on the bottom and a lot of high speed. I thik its great if u know how to tune an engine.

I had no problem tuning it before that pipe,I'm glad it worked for you but I was having no success.I never ran it again yesterday but I'll probably try to go later and see if I can get it shifting.
