need help with low voltage detection on esc
I have a tornado epx pro from redcat racing, Brushless and on a paper it says that the esc can handle a 7.2vnimh, 8.4vnimh, and a 7.4lipo. So i bought a 8.4v and put it in, low voltage detection turned on. can anybody help to stop this

Also, at best you will only get an extra minute or so of runtime by doing this. the low voltage detection cuts power when the battery voltage dips below 6.2v. Much lower than that and the nimh battery wont be able to move the truck at speed anyway. Whats the MAH rating of your 8.4v battery? Here is the program card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hobbywing-LE...item43b1631c18 and here is the ezrun manual: http://site.hobbypartz.com/hobbywing/HW-13-V2.pdf |

My advice to the original poster would be to not try and run a brushless system off a NiMH battery, as the LVC kicking in will be but one of your problems. Get a LiPO, and good luck. <br type="_moz" /> |

Get a LiPO, and good luck. <br type=''_moz'' /> running a nimh below 6.2v on a BRUSHED setup is fine. But a brushless setup demands more amps. You dont lose 50% of the possible runtime. At most 1-2 minutes. After that point, the truck would be so slow there is not point in running it anymore. If 50% of the runtime were cutoff by the LVC, then redcat wouldnt ship the trucks with LVC on. So at most, the LVC is cutting off 10-15% of the possible runtime. These stock 2000mah packs are not high quality race packs. Once they hit 6.2v, there aint much left in them! |
RE: need help with low voltage detection on esc
I would email their support and ask this question because there online documentation does not help with this problem. It is a setting but they do not publish it. Might be in your manual that you received with the R/C.

RE: need help with low voltage detection on esc
Humm that's strange, that it can do 6cell and 7 cell nimh and 2s lipo. But no 3s.
I've seen ESC that do 7cell and 2s only but never them and 7cell Did the paper say that it can handle 8.4v max or a 7cell battery? Because a fully charged 7.4v 2s lipo is 8.4v Fully charged 7.2v 6 cell is 8.4v Fully charged 8.4v 7 cell battery is 9.8v So the ESC might not be limited that high or it thinks it's a flat 3s lipo What ESC is it running? If its the ezrun esc turn off the low voltage detection |
RE: need help with low voltage detection on esc
here is a link to the Hobby Wing EZrun ESC manual.
check page 3 it has the direstion on how to turn it off well providing its using the EZrun ESC [link]http://www.hobbyhot.com/hobbywing/hobbywing_manuals/HW-13-V2.pdf[/link] |

If its the ezrun esc turn off the low voltage detection It can handle 3s, but not out of the box as the fan is powered off the ESC and will be burnt out if you run 3s. Youd have to power the fan off the rx if you want to run 3s. Not sure why the 7cell is giving him LVC issues. Unless the LVC on the esc is defective. Or possible, the connectors. A fualty battery or esc plug will make the esc think the battery is LV. |

RE: need help with low voltage detection on esc
yeh, i emailed them once about that.
wish they would, but it would be a bit of work (changing stuff at the factory) plus a price increase. at least the cards dont cost that much. just wish hobbypartz would keep them in stock. |

RE: need help with low voltage detection on esc
thank you |
Hi all I have a 35A HobbyWing ESC it is cutting off (LVC) so i need to know how to disable LVC as im using NIMH batteries
Can someone direct me to the step by step guide I have a Programe Card just need to know what needs to be in the ITEM and what needs to be in the VALUE box Someone told me to do this Press the item button till the item # says 3 then press the value button till value says 1 But that did not work it is still doing LVC can someone help.. Thanks |
Here is what ive done as a video i hope some one can help
