Duratrax ESC Question

Hello all!! I recently purchased a Duratrax 3900 kv motor/ESC brushless combo upgrade for the Tamiya Fast Attack. I am fairly new in the rc world and was wondering, if there is no on/off switch on the ESC, is it turned on and off by plugging and unplugging the battery?

Doesent look to have a switch..... so its very possible that the battery conection is the switch.

Most of my cars, ive disabled the on/off switches. They are prone to failure and Ive never understood what they are for.
I mean if u are ment to unplug the bettery when not in use, whats the point of a switch?
