Nitro buggy idle problem??
Ok so As you may know about my Ofna ultra lx 2 had some problems since i got it but i managed to fix the problem where it shuts off when it passes half throttle it runs fine now but it wont hold an idle. This is what happens if i turn the car on and i let it sit there i here the rpms getting lower and lower then its shuts off it just doesnt sound right its like i dont know how to explain the sound its like bogging but its not bogging i dont know how to explain it but anyway it just shuts off if i stop the car and if i run the car and i stop it it also will turn off is it the hsn, lsn? Idle screw??? if its either of these tell me to lean it out or richen which ever screw by 1/8 increments thank you. Oh and i have a some what funny story i took my car to the hobby shop for them to fix this one thing on it so i left it at the shop they called told me to pick it up so i did i got home drove it 2 wheels fell off on the first turn the gas tank was loose i noticed they didnt give me my second body clip my antena tube was bent and the plastic cover on the side of the buggy was cracked i went back to the shop and fliped out on them and they gave me all the parts for it free. :D
BIg tip always check your screws before you run it when you take it to the Hobby shop. Well anyways how can i fix my buggy problem Thank you. |
adjust the idle gap...
its a screw that adjusts the carb. Take off your air filter, and make sure the carb has a 1mm gap minimum when its pushed fully closed. Better tip do your repairs yourself, and never take it to a hobby shop so they can't lose your stuff. |
Thanks SyCo! And i try to do all the repairs but sometimes i just dont hvae the right tools im saving up on an rc tool kit do you know of any?? I mean i have a tool set but its just the allen ket set the hex shaped ones the common ones for rc and its like a little zipper box thing i need like fly wheel tool shoe clutch tools things like that.

Duratrax has good starter set......part# DTXR0410.
|
Oh and i moved it to as close to 1mm away as possible still does same noise what could it be?
|
might need it open a tad more I have one that needs 2-3 mm gap the 1mm is just a starting point
also make sure the servo isn't pushing it closed past 1mm I had one do that before as its idle point was set too far back as for tools I just use a allen key set, a cheap $9 screwdriver with multiple heads that store in the handle, a pair of pliers I got for $1, a Duratrax ultimate car wrench, and my dremel ;) pretty much outside the alen key set, and Duratrax car wrench I had everything else for many years ;) |
Ok ill try that and for tools is it good to use a mini drill? or would that easily strip my bolts? because I see people at hobby shops use it but im a bit skeptical.
|
If you want an electric screwdriver for RC, get one of these, they aren't expensive and have enough torque to twist your arm off.

When the idle slows down and slowly gets lower and lower until the engine quits means the idle mixture is lean. Opening the idle gap makes the idle mixture richer but likely requires a few adjustments to get the slide gap and idle mixture right. If blipping the throttle a little bit makes it recover, then the idle mix is lean for sure.

yeah it would have really low rpms for about 30 seconds to a minute and shut off but when i dive it around its fine up until i stop the the car it willl kepp doing it. so i have to open the idle screw carb thing by 1mm increments?
|
No. Richen the idle mixture first. Once it will hold an idle, then mess with the idle speed.

alright and one more thing i was working with it today and i out in a new glow plug in and after one full tank i drove the car to me i stopped it it shut off then i try to turn it on and i find out the the glow plug is broken with the meter on my ignitor is that normal for glow plugs to break in one run?
