Rechargeable Batteries
 
I was wondering if any of you guys or gals knew of any reputable battery manufacturers that make a 2000-2500mAh 2/3A NiMH rechargeable cell. Preferably in a hump pack but if not I can make my own. All I have been able to find is 1600mAh max. Need more power but they also need to fit in the same location. Other options like LiFe? Heard they are like LiPos but with out the drawbacks and lil less voltage. Thinking to much of a hassle to go LiPo for this one battery. Any input is appreciated.

Thanks collector. I have been considering A123's LiFePO4 nano battery. However they are only 1100mAh and they are a bit longer. Run times would be the same as any other 1100mAh battery, regardless of chemistry.

"2/3A NiMh preferably in a hump pack" was the mans request as that's the space he's got to put the pack in. 2/3A is the cell size, the size used in 5 cell reciever packs. The packs you linked are about twice as long as a 5 cell hump pack. I don't know of any 5 cell hump packs with more than 1600mah, seems to be the limit of the cells. You might be able to find a 2s Lipo that'll fit but I'd just get two 1600mah hump packs so you can just swap them on a long bash session.

Well the power specs of the first one are doable but it is to long. The second one would probably fit but to powerful for a receiver without a Voltage regulator. I do appreciate your taking the time though.

Dont really want to deal with the hastle of a LiPo for a receiver battery. It's a bit overkill as well. LiFe battery is boarderline to much.

Nitro - guess I should of mentioned that. It is a 4-tec. It came stock with the usual 4AA battery holder and that barely fit in there. Spec on those are typically 2.25" (57mm) x 1.18" (30mm) x 1.11" (28mm). 5 cell hump pack of the 2/3A cells fits there with a lil room to spare.

You are probably thinking why such a big battery on a 4-Tec? Well it has led's with the tqi and sensors and was planning on adding more and a couple more accesories. Current draw now is stressing the battery when LEDs are running.

Thanks cumquat. I have been looking for a way to fit those. I think they are sub-c cells so they are a bit larger than the 2/3A. Wanted to keep the battery in the same place for weight distribution purpose and given there are not a lot of placement options.

Tank - those single cell Ni-Cd would be cost affective. Still only 1800 but I could build 2 packs for +-$15. Not a bad deal.

Collector - those are a good deal as well. 2 of those would be about the same as building 2 from the 1800's.


However i am really liking the idea of that LRP pack. Little bit more than I wanted to spend but would be worth it. Good thing about running that is the voltage on those stay constant through the whole runtime unlike the Ni-Cd and Ni-MH and the LiFe batteries recharge quicker. It may not fit though so that's another problem.
